Greetings!

Before you e-mail me about the banners on The Perpetual Preschool, please take a moment to read the following statement.

Thanks!

An Open Letter To My Faithful Readers

The Perpetual Preschool is a free resource that offers the following to the early childhood education profession:

So, why is there advertising?

What was at first a hobby is now a full time job.  Keeping The Perpetual Preschool updated with fresh and new topics is quite time consuming.  By offering the banner advertising, my time and costs are offset.  Currently, I spend around $500.00 a month for operation related fees.  If I did not do this, I would have to make The Perpetual Preschool into a subscription based site.  As you can see, this is something that I clearly do not want to do because I want all Early Childhood Professionals to benefit from the information.

Believe it or not, maintaining The Perpetual Preschool is not as easy as you think.  Here's what's involved.

 1.  People post their ideas.

 2.  I download all the ideas that have been posted.

 3.  I sort through all the ideas and weed out advertisements, SPAM, and other things that do not pertain to early childhood education.  This is one of the most time consuming steps.  Right now, I get about 700 posts a week from companies who are trying to sell everything from vinyl siding to Viagra substitutes.  In addition, I also get a horrible amount of posts that are promoting illegal activities such as child pornography.  Each time I receive one of these horrible posts, I report it to The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (www.ncmec.org).

 4.  Next, I correct spelling errors.

 5.  I then post each idea under the most appropriate category (right now there are over 400 different categories).

 6.  Finally, all of the revised pages are uploaded to the BIG computer in the sky that houses The Perpetual Preschool.

Depending on how many ideas that needs to be posted, this process can take up to 2-4 hours each day.

In addition to my time, I also have other costs, such as web hosting fees.  These fees are not cheap.  Thus the advertising goes toward offsetting the fees I incur and the time I put into the site.

When I first created The Perpetual Preschool, I made a commitment to myself that the information posted would be much more than the typical message board.  I strive to create a place where you do not have to sort through all of the XXXXX SPAM that you find on public message boards.  I also want to make it easier on YOU to find the ideas that you want, and need, to enhance your work with young children.

Thank you for making the Perpetual Preschool great.  I hope that this answers your questions and you will continue to support my effort to help parents and educators give young children the best educational experiences that they can.
